Local citizens were documenting and discussing news events long before the advent of the internet. HobNob merely provides the technology to make it much simpler to spread the news quickly and independently.

Average Joes (and Joanna's) can take their own photos, record their own video and recount a story through our local portal, much more quickly than any media organization can. Moreover the actual content tends to be more balanced.

National news organizations may be gravitating towards citizen journalism because it’s perceived as hip, intriguing, or (most likely) free, but that’s not why HobNob citizen journalists do it.

HobNobbers merely:

  • Want to express their personal opinion
  • Enjoy contributing something of interest on a topic they are passionate about
  • Have a compelling human interest story that they feel needs to be told
